Silverstar Wins Seven Awards

Silverstar walked away with one platinum, three gold and two silver awards at the 8th annual West Rand Tourism Awards which was held at The Globe – Silverstar’s grand events arena – on 29 June 2015. In addition, Southern Sun Silverstar was named the overall winner of the West Rand accommodation category.

Business owners, products and services that have displayed exceptional service and value for money to tourists visiting the area, are recognised annually at the West Rand Tourism Awards. Hosts of this year’s prestigious event were West Rand Tourism, Mogale City Municipality, Gauteng Tourism and West Rand District Municipality.

Tokozile Xasa, Deputy Minister of Tourism and WRDM MMC councillor Dennis Thabe assisted WRDM Executive Mayor Alderman KM Nawa, in presenting the awards throughout the evening.

Silverstar’s facilities won awards in the following categories:

  • Gold Award in the category Four Star Lodge/Hotel for Southern Sun Silverstar
  • Winner of the overall accommodation prize for Southern Sun Silverstar
  • Silver Award in the category Restaurant Buffet for Billy G restaurant
  • Silver Award in the category Large Conference, Functions and Events Venue
  • Gold Award in the category Family Entertainment and Activities Silverstar Casino
  • Platinum Award in the category Best Spa Experience for Soulstice Day Spa – third year in a row
  • Gold Award in the category Social Responsibility for Silverstar
