It started on the West Coast – Jacobs Bay to be precise – there where the waves never tire. Rikus de Beer, known to many as Jonathan from Radio Raps, realised his hiatus was nearing the end and with his 40th birthday fast approaching, he decided to form a band, he was going to LIVE, he was going to make music. And so “Die Beste Band In Die Wêreld Ooit” was formed. Ryno Velvet, active in the music industry since 2006, with songs like “Ai My Lam”, “Volkswagen Bussie” and “Aande” answered the call to join forces with Rikus and Regardt Scheepers. Rikus and Ryno’s original songs celebrates Afrikaans, pays homage to its people and reminds us to laugh out loud as often as possible.

“Die Beste Band Ooit”, also released their first album “Nou Toer Ons!” in April 2025 and is proud to announce that the album will be accompanied by a ‘rockumentary’ film about the dynamic group and the shenanigans that take place behind the scenes.
“Working with Ryno and Regie as Rikus in the band is a real homecoming for me. Sharing the stories and songs from a personal perspective is revealing and I live for it” adds De Beer.
